Case study / Volunteer street outreach / Geneva, GE / 2026

Amana Maraude

Amana Maraude is a volunteer collective that has prepared hot meals for homeless people in Geneva and handed them out every Saturday evening for more than ten years. We designed and built its site, which shows how a Saturday works and gives visitors two ways to help: donate or join the team.

The challenge

A volunteer collective has no marketing team and very little time. Most visitors arrive on a phone, from an Instagram or TikTok post, and decide within a few seconds whether to give or to sign up.

Donations are collected by a partner association, Dounia Charity, and the volunteers already organise every outing in a WhatsApp group. The site had to work with those habits and add no new tool to learn.

What we built

The home page opens on a photo of the team in the street, with two buttons: donate and volunteer. A Saturday is told as a timeline, from preparation at 14:00 to the return at 18:30, with the departure at 16:30 and the distribution at 17:00 in between. The figures the collective publishes, about 50 people fed each week and 600 volunteers over the years, sit next to field photos and the partner associations.

The donation page takes card or TWINT payments online and gives the details for a bank transfer to Dounia Charity, which collects the money for the outings. The volunteer page has a short form, after which a coordinator gets in touch, and a direct link to the WhatsApp group where everything is organised.

Coordinators have their own private area, opened with an access code, that leads to their management app. The site is a React app built with Vite and Tailwind CSS, and each page is pre-rendered.
